"While this book had SO MUCH potential, it failed to live up to my expectations."

Summary -

Alba Spencer thought her past in Romania and the dark magic that haunted it was behind her forever. She is one of the first female barristers now, safe in London. But London has its dark side, too. A man called the Ripper stalks the midnight streets. There are rumors that her hated stepmother has found her again, suggestions that the nightmares of her childhood are returning. And with them appears the cursed Gypsy boy she once loved, grown into a man more seductive and more terrifying than she ever could have dreamed…

Dimitri Grigorescu has become a surgeon, a gentleman—and a vampire. The lusts that drive his body are scarcely under control, and even he does not truly know what he is capable of. To fight evil and confusion, Alba must rely only on her wits—and a desire that overwhelms her doubts…

Review -

Snow White and the Vampire is a retelling of the original fairy tale classic in a darker light.  So quite naturally I thought I would love it.  While I did love the thought of it, the telling could have used a little more work.  In all honesty, what probably threw me off the most was the vampire legend chosen by the author; that anyone who commits suicide will become a vampire.  If that were the case the world would have a LOT of vampires' on its hands.  I mean, really, if it were that simple to become a vampire; immortality, ever-lasting youth, strength, power, magic, the suicide rate would be rampant.  I think true vampire lovers everywhere probably have a problem with that tale.

Don't get me wrong, I did at least like the characters.  And the plot was also a gripping one, there was too much repeat; characters do have to remember the past, but readers do not want to recap the same scene with each character.

So for readers who just like to read fairy tales with a twist and are not too anal about their vampire legends, like me, you may enjoy this read.  True vampire lovers, maybe for an in between books to read.
