Summary -

Trapped for decades, a powerful god seeks freedom . . . and revenge. But the only thing that can save him is the passion of a woman's touch . . .

Emma Keane is your average city girl trying to get a date. There's just one thing holding her back: the disembodied male voice speaking to her through her mind. Sound kind of crazy? Maybe. But crazy turns downright deadly when the voice persuades her to travel to the wilds of the Mayan jungle. There she will free his body-his incredibly hot, muscled, naked body.

Humans are so frail, so undisciplined, so susceptible to love. And when this ancient being connects with Emma, the feelings she sparks drive him utterly mad. Protective, keep-her-close, never-let-her-go kind of mad. Which might not be such a bad thing because from the moment the beautiful, passionate Emma unshackles his body, they are hunted at every turn. Now he'll have to do everything in his power to keep her safe. But will it be enough? (Goodreads)

Review -

It seems as though in every paranormal, science fiction or urban fantasy, its almost always the woman who has saved herself for the man; be he vampire, god, werewolf, demon, slayer. Not here!  Remember that dumb movie, "40 Year Old Virgin"?  Well, meet the 70,000 year old virgin.

The heroine in this story, Emma Keane, will make reader's fall in love with her nuttiness from page one.  Ever since she was a child she has heard "voices", one voice in particular.  What she didn't know was that the voice, or as she used to call him her imaginary friend, was actually a god.  A god who has been trapped in a cenote for over 70 years.  So after years of his excessive nagging, unwanted advice and bickering, she is willing to go to another country just to be rid of him.  But when she finally has the opportunity to be rid of him, will she want to?

Being the God of Death and War was never easy for Votan.  Especially dark priests' out to destroy the world and smell worst than a zombie and raw sewage combined, a "brother" out impregnating women and sacrificing others, oh and now being trapped in a half form with only one person to communicate with.  But to him the worst thing he is suffering are feelings; worry, doubt and quite possibly love.

Pamfiloff brings to life characters that readers are sure to love.  Readers will be laughing out loud and at the edge of their seats when the action heats up.  And fanning themselves when these two finally collide under the covers.  Their love story is one to root for, whether it is destined or not, and love the each as individuals as well.  The supporting characters are great as well; Tommasso, a soldier and friend who has Emma's best interest at heart, mostly, a former priest with more curiosity than Curious George, and an undeniable crush on the goddess Cimil.  Having a bad week, or month, pick up this book, it sure helped brighten my spirits.  I look forward to reading more of this series.
