About This Book:

The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And - most importantly of all - she can finally call Jace her boyfriend.

But nothing comes without a price.

Someone is murdering Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second bloody war. Clary's best friend, Simon, can't help her. His mother just found out that he's a vampire and now he's homeless. Everywhere he turns, someone wants him on their side - along with the power of the curse that's wrecking his life. And they're willing to do anything to get what they want. At the same time he's dating two beautiful, dangerous girls - neither of whom knows about the other one.

When Jace begins to pull away from Clary without explaining why, she is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: She herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. The stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.  (Goodreads)

Review -

As with the first book, City of Fallen Angels was very slow moving in the beginning.  But once the action gets going it is indeed nonstop.  Jace and Clary may have stumbled upon one obstacle that neither of them will come back from the same, and be the final nail in the coffin of the truly star-crossed love affair.

While Jocelyn and Luke, finally having confessed their love for one another, get ready to marry, the past comes back to try and destroy their loved ones lives.   The mysterious Vampire Camille has returned to town and is stirring up trouble in not only the vampire and Shadowhunter communities, but within Alec and Magnus' relationship as well.  As Simon tries to juggle his newfound love life with both Isabelle and Maya, he inadvertently befriends Maya's ex, the one who turned her, Jordan Kyle.  And the truth comes to light he realizes one he only really loved as a friend, while the other he may very well be falling in love with.

Jace and Clarissa, now knowing that they can be together in the open, that their love wasn't as forbidden as they once thought, should be able to live happily ever at last, right? Wrong.  Where would the story go then?  What they discover is that some things should NEVER be kept secret.  By withholding the knowledge of Jace's rebirth, they have opened the doors for the mother of all demons, Lillith, to have a rebirth of her own.

This series' in a whole is a true must read for both adults and mature teens alike.   Though both this book and book one, City of Bones, are slow moving at first, they are worth the wait once the action gets going.  None of these books can be read as a stand alone, this series' is definitely one that must be read in order.  Otherwise readers will be missing vital information leaving them at a lost for what is going on and who is who, for every book has information  for preceding books.

Overall, a great read!
