Anita Blake is BACK!!!

Affliction by Laurell K Hamilton
Book 22 of the Anita Blake Series
Published by Berkley July 2, 2013
4 Bloody Fangs!!

The real Anita is finally back!!!  The take no bullshit kick ass necromancer has finally returned, and not as just some sex crazed fiend!!!  Don't get me wrong, there are still quite a few no wholes barred exotic, erotic, love scenes, but not with strangers!  She has not my fellow vamps and ghouls, I repeat NOT, added to her sordid, infinite list of lovers.

In this addition to the series we are actually introduced to another of her sweethearts families.  Only unlike with Jason's fam readers are able to truly get to know this family.  And fully understand why Micah is so willing, and always has been comfortable, with sharing Anita in his bed and heart, it sort runs in the family, so to speak.  There are a couple of his family members that readers will want to put a stake through their cold hearts, even though they are not vampires, they are something so much worst; bigoted, narrow-minded, higher than the Almighty, human beings.  Though she is not introduced under pleasant circumstances, Micah's father is dying by gruesomely unnatural causes.  He has been bitten by a killer-flesh-eating zombie, and rotting from the outside in.  And who better to investigate the situation than one of the few true Necromancer's alive, Anita Blake.

Though once Anita is on the trail, she just may be biting into more than she can chew.  There are not just flesh eating zombies afterall, but they are also running with a gang of rotting vampires and a Master to rival Anita's own powers, one of the only vampires that may still have ties to Marmee Noir

This book will definitely pull fans back into the series that have drifted away due to the series becoming nothing more than straight up porn.  It is full of action, suspense, blood and gore, and characters that NEVER should have been put on the back burner in the first place; Edward, Jean Claude, Micah, Nathaniel, and though Asher just may have turned over a new leaf. The only downfall was the end.  With all the climax I expected there to be a full out war.  Unfortunately that was downplayed, big time.  Other than that, it was truly a great read.
